Interior decorating is a great way to bring your own personality, identity, and style into your new property, and make it feel like the space you envisioned when you bought it. Here are quick, affordable, and smart changes to bring your new home to life.
It’s 2026, so let’s leave the muted, industrial tones of the 2010s where they belong. Bold strokes of complementary colour are the trend for 2026, according to Vogue’s Anna Grace Lee and Elley Leavitt[1]
A colour wheel is your best friend when it comes to making intentional choices when it comes to colour. A good rule of thumb is the 60-30-10 rule.

If you have a bunch of new, viral furniture and décor from the same location, produced in the same year, then you have a trend, not a whole design. Interior design should always be greater than the sum of its parts, with elements complementing and harmonising with each other. Homes that feel truly lived in and unique typically have a mix of modern furniture mixed with vintage or antique conversation pieces.
Mixing modern and antique furniture that have unifying features, such as similar colour, shape or texture, can really add character to a location, and make it feel cozier and lived in.

Spend enough time on TikTok, and you’ll hear the Gen Z terms “Little Light “and “Big Light”.
Big, or hard lights usually serve a function; they’re great for providing ample light to a practical space such as a kitchen, office or dining room. They serve an important role in making sure your home supports you in day-to-day life, but they lack ambience to really make your space feel like home. This is where little, or soft lights come in. By having several smaller lights throughout the house, such as table & floor lamps, pendant lights and even candles and fireplaces (if you’re lucky enough to have a home with a fireplace) you can ‘layer’ light throughout a space to increase ambience and bring your home to life.

You’ll be spending a lot of time in your house, so make sure it feels like home. Take the time to show your home love, and it will love you back!
